Community Engagement

We believe that everybody should be empowered to save lives through first aid.

Every year, around 30,000 people in the UK suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and survival rates are very low, with less than one in ten people making a recovery. Early CPR and use of a defibrillator (AED) can make a huge difference, increasing survival rates to up to 74%.

More widespread training is key to increasing survival rates and so here at First on Scene we campaign for changes in government legislation to make first aid a compulsory part of education for all young people.

We also push for the increased placement of defibrillators within schools and the wider community, as these vital pieces of equipment can mean the difference between life and death for so many people.

Restart a Heart Day

On Monday 16th October 2017, 195,000 young people across the UK were taught lifesaving CPR as part of European Restart a Heart Day.

First on Scene provided free first aid training to pupils at three West Yorkshire schools...
