Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Important information for first aid training

It is safe and essential to attend first aid training:

The Health and Safety Executive and Consultant Microbiologists from NHS England have provided advice specifically for first aid training.

UK ambulance response times are currently extremely extended as a result of the unprecedented COVID-19 healthcare emergency. At this time of crisis up to date first aid training is essential, particularly for workplaces where it is not possible to work from home. Please note that this essential first aid training is NOT classed as a ‘social gathering’ and class numbers are small.

We are now teaching COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Control as standard on ALL our courses, and this is the FIRST lesson on every syllabus. This valuable education can be cascaded to workplaces and families to help prevent the spread of the virus.

All of First on Scene’s trainers are UK Emergency Service trained in infection prevention and control and will be closely monitoring these controls in the classroom. Learners can be reassured that clinical prevention and control is in place in the classroom.

We have implemented a rigorous, monitored Ten Step Plan to ensure clinical grade infection prevention and control is in place in the classroom. We are confident that not only will attending training be safer than attending most workplaces (or being home with family), it will give learners valuable infection control skills and knowledge to cascade to others to help save lives.

In line with the above – if you fall into the Government advice on self-isolation found here you should not attend the course.

We have introduced additional flexibility to our terms and conditions to help those who must self-isolate due to COVID-19*.

* the following amendment to paragraph 7 of our standard terms and conditions will apply until 30th July 2020: learners who are advised by HM Government to self-isolate at https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response (or who are excluded from the course on the day) will be offered one place on an alternative course within a three month period of the original booking. Alternatively the Customer may send an alternative delegate to attend the course.  The customer must still notify FOST in writing to amend or cancel any booking. If a delegate does not attend a course without giving prior notice in writing, the full course fee shall remain payable and no refund shall be given.
