First Aid and AED Instructor Course 

Starting out as a first aid instructor can be extremely daunting, but First on Scene’s comprehensive 5 day course will give you the best possible start to your new role.

Our course includes the Ofqual regulated Level 3 Award in Teaching & Assessing First Aid Qualifications (TAFAQ). This new industry specific qualification is designed to be more practical and less assignment orientated than other training options currently available (such as the Level 3 Award in Education & Training). This allows us to focus on helping you  gain valuable sector knowledge and  the practical delivery skills required to become to become a confident and competent First Aid Instructor.

    Emergency First Aid at Work
    Paediatric First Aid
    Emergency Paediatric First Aid
    BLS and Safe Use of an AED
    BLS and Management of Anaphylaxis
    Annual Refresher courses

This Ofqual regulated qualification meets HSE and Awarding Organisation standards for trainers to hold a formal teaching and assessing qualification. In addition, this course also meets the requirement for new instructors to provide a record of competently assessing and teaching first aid sessions under supervision.

Qualifications Needed to Start:

Learners should hold a current First Aid at Work certificate (or recognised exemption) before starting the course.

Note: If it has been some time since taking your First Aid at Work course (over 18 months), we strongly advise that you undertake your First Aid at Work requalification prior to attending.

Learners will also need to have competent literacy and ICT skills.

Course Format and Assessment:

The regulated qualification has a number of assessments that take place throughout the course. These include observations by the course tutor, Multiple Choice Questions and the submission of lesson plans. The subjects of two micro teaching sessions (20-30 minutes each) will be assigned prior to the course.

In addition to the 5 days of classroom based learning, additional time is required for directed study which includes producing lesson plans.
