On the 1st Oct 2009, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) implemented new rules for employers on First Aid at Work and if you have more than one employee working at a location, the HSE requires you to undertake a first aid needs assessment. This assessment will help you determine the number and type of first aiders required to provide adequate first aid cover for your place of work.
One of the changes implemented by the HSE on the 1st Oct 2009 was to reduce this First Aid at Work training course from a 4 day to a 3 day course.
This comprehensive, HSE approved, 3 day first aid at work course is for people intending to act as a First Aider at Work. The course is designed to provide the First Aider with the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort of the casualty. With an emphasis on dealing with life threatening situations and keeping the casualty alive until professional help arrives.
Our instructor’s deliver dynamic courses that relate the subjects being taught to real life situations. This makes our training more applicable to your first aider’s and helps them gain vital life saving skills and knowledge. As a result they will be able to deal confidently and competently with a wide range of situations that could arise in your workplace.
All students will undertake a formal assessment on completion of the course.
First Aid at Work certificates are valid for three years and First on Scene Training will send an automatic reminder to both the customer and First Aider three months prior to the expiry date of the certificate. Certificates can be renewed by attending a 2 day First Aid at Work Re-qualifying training course.
The HSE now recommend that all first aiders attend a 3 hour First Aid Refresher course annually, to ensure that they are up to date with procedures and to reduce the level of “first aid skill fade”.
This is a popular First Aid training course, which we regularly run throughout the UK. To find a course near you – use the 'Find Course Dates' menu and select First Aid at Work Initial. We can also run 'on site' courses at your premises or arrange a course specifically for you at one of our training centres.
If you require details regarding an ‘on site’ training course, please contact our friendly Customer Service Team, who will be happy to help you arrange this.
