If you have more than one employee working at a location, the Health & Safety Executive requires you to undertake a thorough first aid risk assesment
Once you have done a risk assessment for the workplace, you may find that you do not require a fully qualified first aider. In this instance, the minimum requirement is to "appoint a person to deal with any emergency situations" (hence the name "Appointed Person"). Many companies also train staff as appointed persons to assist their fully qualified first aiders.
The course is also particularly suited for employees who work in small teams away from a central workplace, providing first aid cover in these situations.
Many private individuals also book on to this course as it is an excellent basic first aid course for the general public.
This course is designed to equip the appointed person with the skills necessary to take charge and deal with an emergency effectively. The emphasis is placed on preventing situations from becoming worse and maintaining life until help arrives.
This course is available as an 'On Site' course or Scheduled 'Open' Course throughout the UK.
